Literally those pictures of the sweater were taken YESTERDAY and my view right now is:

It has been steady snowing since around 11:30am or so. I'll grant you that it looks pretty, but Steve drove to the post office (less than a mile away) and said several areas were quite iffy due to how slippery it is. I am very grateful that we are working from home this winter, not just for sanity but for safety.

I finished my election judge training, and the documentation thanked me for serving my country.

I also learned a lot more about the voting process. In Minnesota, apparently lots of people got turned away this year because so many applied to be judges. I live in a suburb of St. Paul, but like... right next to it. I applied and only offered to work within my precinct (but not necessarily my polling place), and I got placed at my own poll location, so that's neat. Every year it's always been old white people as judges. I'm gonna mix it up!

Work is pretty slow for me so far this week. I like it, but it also makes me anxious like I'm forgetting something. Did I mention my boss still really wants to get me on the Usability train/hybrid role? She is gunning hard for it. I might start shadowing soon.

Wow, I don't miss driving on the first day it snows.

When I moved from Saskatchewan (north of North Dakota) to here, people asked if I minded all the rain in the winter. I reminded them that you don't have to shovel the rain. I've shovelled enough snow for my liking thank you. But i do miss snowball fights.

"You don't have to shovel rain" ahahaha!!! That's such a good response.

I was talking about this with a friend last week, about how I thought this year, we'd all get slammed early with winter... and then from the start of this week, all my friends in the west have been posting about snow!
What's Usability?

I'm hopeful it will melt, that the ground isn't cool enough yet to stick :P

Usability is when you help a group measure how well someone can use a product or design. So, if you created a webpage or a program, Usability testing with people will show how easily the site can be navigated. There are 5 quality checks:

-Learnability: How easy is it to accomplish basic tasks the first time they encounter it?
-Efficiency: Once the design is learned, how quickly can tasks be performed?
-Memorability: How easily is it to remember how to use the design when they return to it after a period of not using it?
-Errors: How many errors and how bad are they? Can they recover from the errors easily?
-Satisfaction: How pleasing is the design?

So far at my job I've focused on Training and Documentation - teach people how to use Technology and write help articles for when they forget. The other half (well, 2 people as of right now...) of our team works with groups to test their products or features, and ask them questions on what their goals are and how they might want to improve a design.

My boss really wants me to get into Usability because, well, the big thing is I have an enthusiastic personality, but another thing is she says there's not pressure to ~perform~ or outcomes I have to meet like with training, so it will probably be really nice to just ask questions and not be impacted by the outcomes (lol). And, 2 people in Usability for the whole University and even with people OUTSIDE the University is just not enough.

Oh! So it's like a department. I thought maybe like an app or something.

Oh, I obviously was extremely narrow in my interpretation of your question. The department answer is way more succinct XD

The snow still is on the ground, but it's felt strangely like early Spring? ARE WE IN MARCH AGAIN???
